Ronaldo fit to face Valencia

Real Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo will feature against Valencia after shaking off an injury he picked up on international duty on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old sustained a thigh strain in Portugal's 6-2 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina and Karanka has confirmed that Ronaldo is fit to play on Saturday but revealed that Kaka and Ricardo Carvalho would not make the trip to Mestalla.

"Cristiano trained yesterday and the day before yesterday. He's fine. Marcelo is in the squad-list, but Kaka isn't. Nuri Sahin might play depending on how the match goes.

"Carvalho is still recovering and feeling better every day. He is working with a lot of will."

Karanka then warned Madrid fans not to expect a repeat of last season's 6-3 win over los Che at Mestalla.

"Last season's match against Valencia wasn't normal. Tomorrow's will be totally different as Mestalla is one of those stadiums where you win important points."

The 38-year-old also spoke about Hamit Altintop's comments that he was not playing enough and could leave the club, saying the Turk is training with renewed vigour.

"Altintop has returned from playing with Turkey with more desire to train."

Finally, Karanka spoke out about the racism row currently embroiling Fifa president Sepp Blatter, stating his belief that footballers should be examples to the community.

"People have got to be careful with racist comments. We are an example for lots of kids."
